Nolan McGillvary's Portfolio: Projects

This is my projects page. Here you will find what I think PBL means. In the navigation bar, if you hover over projects, you should be able to see my 6th Grade portfolio (2 years before now) 7th Grade reflection (last year) and my 8th Grade reflection (this year) when you click on those links.

This year, I have used PBL. PBL stands for Project Based Learning. Project Based Learning is what students use to engage with their subjects in a hands-on way by doing projects. These projects can be done in all sorts of different ways and the students could be making a variety of different things. PBL is sometimes done in a group as well so the students can be learning together, make friends, and have people there to help them complete the project which makes it less stressfull on the students (as long as they're actually following the five qualities that is). PBL can also be used to do projects that connect two subjects together and bring all the information from both classes and bring it full circle. Not to mention, students can learn how what they've learned can apply to real-world situations if you do simulations or something of the like so the students can learn how to actually use what they learn, not to mention, that because PBL can be fun for students, they're more likely to remember using the information and later be able to answer the driving question by using the information they have needed to complete the project.
Cirlce with the above PBL steps labeled around the circle with arrows going around the circle, showing you do it multiple times.
